Carve a North American Bison

Prairie Canada Carvers Association (PCCA) is looking for carvers to give an early “Expression of Interest” for the following workshop.

Topic: CARVE A NORTH AMERICAN BISON
Instructor: Bob Pedigo

Prairie Canada Carvers Association (PCCA) would like to bring Bob’s expertise back to Winnipeg. Bob is proposing to instruct how to carve a realistic bison. Bob has carved over 100 bison, some of which are on display at the North Dakota Heritage Centre and State Museum.

Location: Pembina Curling Club, 1341 Pembina Hwy, Winnipeg
Dates: May 6th, 7th, and 8 th , 2027, in conjunction with our Annual Show and Competition
Length of workshop: approximately 20 hours. (8 hours on the 6th , 8 hours on the 7th , 4 hours on the 8th .
Instructor: Bob Pedigo, Bismarck, ND. (see bio below).
Number of students: minimum 9, maximum 12

Deadline for full payment: February 28, 2027
Cost: $325 (includes the cost of the roughout). The piece is made from butternut; size, approximately 6″ long, 2″ wide, five” tall.
Cancellations: a partial refund would be given if student cancels during March, 2027. No refunds after March 31, 2027. A full refund will be provided if the course is cancelled by either the instructor or PCCA.

Bob Pedigo’s Bio
Bob has been carving for more than 35 years. During those 35 years he has participated in all types of carvings including: chip carving; caricature carving; realistic human carvings and he has a special love for realistic
animal carvings. Bob has taken many workshops given by Desiree Hajny who is known for her realistic animal carvings and is an Emeritus Member f the Caricature Carvers of America. (Desiree was a guest judge/instructor at our 2009 show)

In addition to being a student of many carving workshops, Bob has also been instructing carving workshops for over twenty years. Some of the locations that Bob has taught carving includes: The Winnipeg Woodcarvers Weekend; Wahpeton Carving Weekend; Flickertail Woodcarvers Annual Show in Bismark; the Red River Valley Woodcarvers show in Fargo; and many more.
