Tom Park – carve a pair of dancing cranes. May 8 & 9, cost $40.00

Tom Park is planning on giving a repeat of his workshop on carving a pair of cranes.

Learn how to use two or more contrasting coloured woods in a single carving.
You will be shown how to design, layout and cut the wood to create a striking carving.
To put the techniques into practice you will carve a pair of dancing cranes –one with a light body and dark wings and the other with dark body and light wings. They are approximately 7 inches tall.
A clear lacquer finish will be used to retain the beauty of the wood.
A natural finish will be used in order to accentuate the colours of the wood.
Participants will need: a) a sharp knife as we are using some hardwoods b) a bow sander (If you don’t have one, a few will be available to use) c) 3 grits of sandpaper (120, 220, 320). Tom will have some on hand if you don’t have all of these.
Two blanks will be provided and are included in the cost.
